I have been a PhD Student studying Golden Eagles in the Foinaven Special Protection Area. I have taken 5 dead golden eagles to this facility and have had 5 post mortems conducted.
There were no suspicious circumstances but without this superb facility we would never have known.
It must remain open.

Closure of this lab will affect a lot of our crofting members in skye & localsh, another negative impact on active Producers struggling to retain stock on the hills in these areas.

Let us not forget the lessons of the Foot and Mouth outbreak in 2001. This facility is crucial to the effective surveillance and control of such diseases.

Taking away this service could have a detrimental effect on animal health in the Highlands and Islands - where approx. 25% of the livestock enterprises in Scotland are based - thus also majorly impacting the economic viability of the farming community.

leave things alone what are people/farmers/wildlife conservationists etc., supposed to use if you close this vital and essential facility the only place they can go or use the closest one is where in another country talk about stupidity
