This is a valuable service for our area, and having used it before in the past, when I had dying lambs, I'm sure there would have been many more if I had to go further afield.

All vet labs should be updated not closing down. This may save some money short term but the potential delay in identifying diseases will cost crofters and farmers dearly. God forbid we have another foot and mouth outbreak.

I believe that the closure of the Animal Disease and Post Mortem facility at Inverness would be a massive backward step in keeping new diseases out of the area , and eradicating some of the diseases we have at present.

Issues such a Foot & Mouth and Blue Tongue highlight the importance of having testing facilities in the area. There are also cases of liver fluke/sheep scab which have to be recorded

Their practical assistance and knowledge have been invaluable to me for the past thirty years, and it was vital they were situated where they are in the Highlands. Highland Wildlife Hospital Trust.
