I have used this facility over many years.....reasonably accessible(Uist) ,friendly, efficient, illness/disease detection most helpful for stock(sheep) management

This service is too important to lose for farmers and crofters in the north and west. It is imperative that infectious diseases are picked up as early as possible to prevent a national epidemic!

The SRUC services in the Highlands and Islands are essential to maintaining quality disease surveillance in this part of the country. They also provide a valuable resource to local veterinary surgeons, with their local prospective on the areas they cover.

I fully appreciate that there are other mechanisms by which veterinary surveillance is accomplished but it must surely be a given that the less one looks, the lower will be the potential for finding! In an extensive remote area with many challenged agricultural enterprises such as that served by the Inverness laboratory, making the act of “looking” more difficult (logistically and potentially financially) can only have a detrimental effect on “finding” which frankly benefits national surveillance not one jot.

There a lots of people out there that rely on this lab and the work that is done there is absolutely brilliant and the staff go the extra mile to help. It's not just farm stuff there is a hole other group off people that need it like gamekeepers, rspb, snh, police, other vets and many more so what is everyone ment to do and carcuse collection is not a option because some of the stuff needs to be live for test to be under taken ! So if it's shut down you could basically say ur cutting off a life line to hundreds if not thousands of folk !

This closure does not only affect the farming community. Fishery and all other wild life disease issues are also handled by this facility. An area with such as the Highlands needs a local Vet Lab to protect us all from the threat of imported disease which can be diagnosed quickly

This is a vital service for the Highland Area. It would be a backward step to close this facility.Perth or Thurso are not a viable option
