To be quite honest, this president at Dillard University is out of control and no one is stopping him. He is building his Brand and his has an addiction smooching up to entertainers and the famous. He is not presidential materials and will never be. He is coward when comes to leadership and and making the right decision, for our school. Question: Who he is going the bring in for all is bulling going around here.

I am a mother of daughters 22 and 13 years old...I am appalled to even think that this person was a suggested speaker to place in front of students at our FAIR DILLARD...she has gotten MUCH recognition and I'm sure she will continue to get more but our institution of higher learning does not need to support her speeches to ANYONE...and certainly not our DU students.

Allowing Karrine Steffans (AKA Super-Head) to address the sons and daughters of Dillard University would be a colossal mistake, and a mockery of Dillard's core values. Steffans is a self-proclaimed uncouth and controversial speaker, and certainly not qualified to influence the Dillard student body. A student body and institution steeped in rich history and academic triumphs. An academic powerhouse that can and must do better than the likes of Karrine Steffans.

The subject of domestic violence is a relevant one for Dillard students. The voice that brings hope and inspiration and DIRECTION must first have found direction and insight in her own life. This is not the case for "super-head". Please, let us work to find a more suitable speaker. This is my sincere hope.

When I was a student, speakers like Wale Soyinka, Abbey Lincoln, Angela Yvonne Davis, Sonja Sanchez and Keith Boykin amongst a host of others spoke to rooms that were full or beyond capacity. Full of both engaged students and community members alike. We didn't need to scrape the bottom of the barrel to find speakers who engaged our students. I won't say that the quality of the student had changed, but I do believe that the adage, "attitude reflects leadership" is solidly at play here... And Dr. Kimbrough's dismissive response to his largest social network has only proven that adage 100 times more. You know when Dr. Kimbrough wrote his open letter to Dr. Dre, asking him to do better & be better and offer his resources to those institutions who needed them most, I was so completely filled with pride, I fiercely defended MY alma maters' president & and bragged on him and shared the letter at every opportunity... After the letter he wrote basically dismissing us, I can't say I have felt quite that betrayed by my Fair Dillard... Lastly, in a conversation with a close friend who is a tenure track professor at another university, she stated to me, quite honestly and hurtfully, "no good professor wants their brand tarnished by coming from the school that continues to host 'Superhead'". When Dillard students say that not having adequate resources such as study abroad programs or PhD level professors are among their biggest concerns, it's difficult to understand how inviting a woman whose claim to fame is fellating A list rappers and sports stars furthers these students goals.

I love Dillard and always will. What's most troubling about what has occurred this past week is more than about a speaker that is ill-suited to engage our academic community but it is also about a President that is just as poor in character as the individual he has chosen to address our family and future alumni. Please know that this is not about domestic violence because had it been the case, it would have been clearly spelled out and stated in the original advertisement he created to market the event. Dillard did not fail this week with the selection of Ms. Steffans; we fail three years ago with the selection of a President who we knew from the start would not represent our brand. My heart goes out to those sisters and brothers who did not get to experience Dillard prior to the storm - a lot has changed. We once had a President of impeccable academic prowess, who expected the same from everyone within those "gleaming white" walls but now we simply have Hip Hop and the expectation of nothing at all. To my newly graduated sisters and brothers (2006-2015) please understand that we, alums, are disappointed because this is a hard pill for us to swallow. Our once great institution changed overnight. It is to be understood that you might defend this chaos because it is how you were indoctrinated - My sisters and brothers trust me when I say, this is not the Dillard way. Yes, I am active with the National Alumni Association (DUNAA), Yes, I am a regular giver to the University, Yes, I have recruited countless students, Yes, I am active with my local alumni chapter, Yes, I have given funds and other resources to students in need, Yes, I have traveled to the University every year, twice a year for ten years and have not missed a National Alumni Meeting. Yes, I fought extremely hard to save the Education and History Programs from being cut, Yes, I have helped countless students get into graduate school after Dillard, and NO, I do not support Ms. Steffans

It doesn't seem like the best message to send to anyone. If pretty much all you are known for and have capitalized on is how super your head game is, then I strongly disagree with you having anything other than using your money to take courses at my university.

I don't think she represents a message we want to send in association with Fair Dillard. I don't condemn her for her past, present or future. I cannot...as she said, I am just another sinner. Only God has the final say on her actions. However, I can express my lack of desire to associate her with my alma mater, which I am expressing today.

I'm sure a better representative of domestic violence, can be found, whom current students will be able to relate to & respect.
