For many years numerous pole vaulters have been talking about the development of an annual event where athletes from our sport can connect with the multiple of friendships we have all created with other international pole vaulters from around the world. Hasse Lagerqvist was a friend to every pole vaulter for over 5 decades and loved by all for his generosity, friendship and support. It is our collective intent to approach the DN Galan Meet Organizers with an official list of pole vaulters asking that the DN Galan Pole Vault event be permanently named after HANS LAGERQVIST starting in 2020.

As part of the mutual agreement between the world’s pole vault petitioners and DN Glan Organizers naming DN Galan pole vault event being named after Hans Lagergvist - a permanent trophy will be created for this annual event, which will go on permanent public display at The City of Stockholm Town Hall ( Or, like Government Building/ Display case) with the winners name(s) engraved each year on the DN Galan/ Hasse Lagerqvist Memorial Trophy (both Men and Woman) each year. Hans Lagerqvist worked as an Engineer for the City of Stockholm for many decades, before his retirement. Not only was Hans a civil servant for the City of Stockholm, he served as an unofficial Ambassador for Sweden around the world. ( Note: The design of the Hans Lagerqvist Memorial Trophy will be designed and made in Sweden. In line with the Wimbledon Tennis Trophy size. One side will list all the names engraved Petition Pole Vaulters by both name and country and opposite side will be for the next hundred years of the DN Galan Male and Female PV winners to be engraved onto the trophy each year) .

As a thank you- to DN Galan Organizers and the City of Stockholm for honoring one of their own, each year the “reunion pole vault participants” will actively participate and support in a 1-2 day pole vault clinic for the school kids of Stockholm held the day(s) before the annual DN Galan International Track & Field Competition.

Hasse, loved kids and coached them whenever he had an opportunity, so this will give us all an opportunity to teach the school kids of Stockholm about Hans Lagerqvist - a Swedish pole vaulter who loved life and was loved by all. Along with being a major part of the Sweden’s rich pole vault history for over 5 decades.

Please help us collect the names of pole vaulters from around the world to officially sign- on to this “official petition” scheduled to be submitted to the DN Galan meet organizers, and the City of Stockholm/ Mayor.
