I was in special education because when I was in school they did not have have ESL classes. It’s a big mistake to segregate these kids. Because you stigmatize the child as if you’re “not good enough” to be mainstreamed. It was awful feeling less than worthy of a good education. And to socialize with the other kids in your class is nice instead of feeling like your “those” kids. Don’t label them and segregate them. It’s awful for the psyche..

Children should be placed in the least restrictive environment possible, with their peers. This is best practice and it is the law. I am against segregating students with special needs.

Children especially those with special needs should be able to stay within their own age group in the school system. Ites hard enough for these kids, DON'T make it harder.

Children with special needs deserve to be treated with the same regard as all children. These students should not be forced to leave their home elementary schools for middle school a year early without family support and without consideration to their individual needs.

This decision should not be applied to all IEP students but rather it should be made on a case by case basis as to what is best for each individual child’s social/emotional/educational needs!
