I am literally scared to drive because of the amount of texting and talking on their phones that I witness driving is a HUGE problem. The death rate has increased tenfold. I would like to see jail time and a HUGE fine for those who do. Billboards should be in your face to scare people who think nothing can happen. Death can certainly happen and has!!!!!

This issue is of the greatest concern. I lost a good friend due to a teenager who was distracted. It only takes 1-2 seconds of eyes off the road and disaster can happen.

You folks should aim a bit higher. Think of some way to stop distracted driving.

Please do something to stop people from driving and using cellular phones, especially texting (although I think all use is dangerous/stupid. I am appalled at the number of people including many middle and older aged people who use them while driving. It would be so simple to put software in that would shut the phone off except for 911 calls. PLEASE DO SOMETHING! Our lawmakers obviously won't

My sister was recently killed by a pickup truck whose driver was high on drugs. But he could have just easily have been texting. A vehicle with a distracted driver is a lethal weapon. Stop texting while driving.

People who break the law need to be held accountable whether they're drinking/driving or texting/talking on cell phone while driving. It's past time for states to toughen up and enforce the their laws!

the number of people on their phone while driving is astounding. The idea that someone could be checking Facebook behind the wheel is horrifying.

Over 50% of the drivers I see every day are on the phone. Twice in the past week I have had to get out of their way to avoid an accident.

As a bike rider, I get to look inside many vehicles every day. I recently saw a woman with a Greek salad on her lap, a phone cradled in her right ear, and a Yorkshire terrier on her left shoulder... Somehow we have made this acceptable, almost cute and comical. We get what we tolerate.

This is so necessary! My daughters and I were rear ended by a distracted driver while we were stopped at a rotary. The driver admitted to not looking where she was going. I was in the back seat and was showered with glass when her vehicle crashed into the back of my daughter's car and shattered the rear window and the back of the car.

Live near university. About 30% of drivers are texting at any given moment. It is scary to drive here.

change will come when texting while driving is truly criminalized and when penalties are painful.

I fear for my life as I walk my daughter to school. Everyone is looking at their phone instead of the road.

As a cyclist, I have observed up to one in three drivers texting during my daily commute. This has included drivers of massive heavy good vehicles. Laws and moral coercion alone won't stop this behavior. There must be an engineering solution as well.

let's get the smart programmers to use their skills for the public good and figure out how to disable texting features while driving.
Thank you for spearheading this effort! So important!
