Currently many rural and regional schools do not have the staff or student numbers to offer all senior subjects. This problem has been minimised by distance education programs with students teaching themselves with the assistance of an external teacher. The problem arises when students are left with less than adequate environments are provided for these students. At the moment many schools use a section of their library as “special” area the dilemma with this as these areas get easily taken over by other students of classes and these areas become instantly inaccessible with the absence of the school teacher librarian. My proposal is that rural and regional schools should be made segregate a special room or centre built for this purpose. Each school deemed appropriate shall receive one sum of money to build or allocate this isolated area giving the students solid private class room as any other internal student would receive.

My son does distance ed and it is so hard for him to focus in the library with everyone running around and talking. He needs a quiet space to actually get his work done.

about time. rural kids get the short end of the stick constantly. just give them a proper room to study in so they can actually pass their exams.
