We, the fans of Star Wars, hereby request that Disney release the original cut of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back and Episode VI: Return of the Jedi on Blu-Ray. We feel that re-releasing these films in there original form is important for the following reasons: These films are important milestones in cinematic history and should be available in there original form for future generations. The inclusion of computer generated images (CGI) have no place in a film made in a time before such technology was possible. We feel that it is an insult to the hard working people behind these ground-braking effects, that there work has been replaced in such a way. Han shoots first. It is important that Han Solo fires the first shot in his confrontation with Greedo. By changing these events, and others, the perception of some of the characters are altered. Hayden Christensen has no place in The Return of the Jedi. Regardless of our individual feelings of his portrayal in the later prequel trilogy, at the time of the original release of the film Sebastian Shaw had portrayed him in the only other unmasked scene in the film. We feel that it is an insult to replace him in this vital scene. We understand that work had to be done to restore the original film and we don't object to that work being done and it was done well. We do, however, object to these timeless classics being altered in a way that the films lose some of there original appeal. The altered versions are available and will be for years to come, but we feel that these films need to also be available in there original form without the insertions of extra scenes and CGI imagery.
