real life? so officials giving the OK to do this on city streets is fake? its called reality TV right? some of those shows are just drama to get ratings but the fact is city officials are allowing this...its all for the publicity and if/when the races cause harm/death will that be real enough? not to mention the laws that everyone else have to obey are being brushed aside for a possibility of being mentioned in a show? pathetic.....take it to a track or dont do it at all.

illegal is illegal. so why can the city give the go ahead for this type of illegal activity? and also be able to sleep knowing they made an exception just so the city can be on TV. Sad, for those that claim its "not really illegal" where did u learn the laws or did u? very disturbing that officers in these cities can pick and choose what is illegal. Wrong is wrong. if officials can pick n choose what laws to ignore for such a pathetic reason as to get publicity for the city, where will they draw the line? i didnt realize that the rules only apply to the taxpaying...regular citizens that arent making a reality show... this is definitely setting them up for lawsuits, and going to give "regular" people a strong argument in any future cases dealing with injuries and death related to this illegal activity. one more thing, who pays taxes? and those taxes are supposedly partly allocated for upkeep/repairs to those CITY streets so inform me on how this is legal n ethical?

I am also a member of Beat the Heat, and I also believe that this show encourages illegal street racing. A lot of teens and first time drivers watch this show and think it is ok to street race. We should be telling them to go to the track because on the street you don't control all the factors that could lead to a crash. It is not ok to be on the street and this show should not be allowed to promote it.

I am the President of an international non profit organization Beat the Heat Inc. we are Police and Fire Fighters that use racing emergency vehicles to challenge the street racer to come race us at the race track. we have chapters all over the U.S. This show counters evddything we do. These are not 'street cars', these are all out race cars and should be running at a race track! we as emergency personel have seen the results of 'illegal street racing'! people die, people got to prison and lives are destroyed for an adrenaline rush. I have knocked on the door of too many parents to tell them the child was killed in an illegal street race. It isnt if something is going to happen, it's when! take it to the track. We have chapters all over Oklahoma and would be happy to put our Poli e ars beside you to see if you can 'BEAT THE HEAT'! See you at the track!

If they were to race on a real dragstrip then maybe they'll actually be able to let it all hang out, instead of crossing the finish line at what looks to be about 60 mph...

Great show but it is sending the wrong message. The streets are not made for racing they are made for traveling
