Vitality Partners with Woolies - 25% off healthy foods to the rich! It is my opinion that it is unconstitutional to make certain exclusive benefits available to certain individuals based on their financial status alone

It should be our democratic right to choose where we want to spend our money and what we feed our families. There is very little price difference, if any, on basic health food items such as bread, milk, fruit, veg between Woolies and Pick 'n Pay. So I am not completely sure what their research is based on:

"We are introducing Woolworths as an alternative to Pick n Pay on specific Discovery Health plans because our data shows that these plan holders mostly buy their healthy groceries at Woolworths despite the rich rewards available through Pick n Pay. By introducing Woolworths on these plan types we hope to extend the reach of the already successful HealthyFood benefit and make it available to even more Discovery Vitality members across all if not, most Health plans."

One can only assume that Woolies being a more luxury-forthcoming brand was a seemingly suited fit to Discovery's top spenders. Meanwhile, we all shop at Woolies all the time. I think these restrictions are foolish and short-sighted.

One can understand the difference between a core hospital plan of a few hundred rands and an executive plan of R5000, but in this case they've cut it fine. So fine that in some cases, a few hundred Rands extra spend per month would have rewarded you with responsibly sourced healthy food.

Discriminatory to say the least and last time I checked Woolies is a far healthier option, being one of the most responsible retailers in the world!

And so the rich will enjoy a whopping 25% off their smoked salmon from Woolies, while we middle of the roaders have to settle for second best.

Stop complaining to them on Facebook. They will just reply with their stock standard reply.
