Discontinue IAYT-Q Pathway

I see no purpose in paying for the C-IAYT designation if IAYT is just going to undercut us.

Please do not undermine the field of Yoga Therapy - and co-opt the word Yoga - with this shortcut.

Current IAYT member and strongly disagree with this choice.

As a certified yoga therapist, I wholeheartedly agree with this petition.

Please maintain the integrity of true yoga therapy! Please don't let yoga therapy become another victim of the fast-food, easy-fix reductionist culture. The beautiful gift the 800 hour curriculum is that it allows for the deepening into the knowledge of this ancient path which becomes the unique and essential gift we can share. If there is a new pathway to being a yoga therapist, then I can see where other medical fields may not, say, need as much anatomy, but to truly understand the wide scope of yoga therapy, they need much much more than that. Anatomy is small part. I have been practicing for over 50 years, have been IAYT certified for over 10, and I still I need to keep studying the rich and wonderful field that is yoga. Thank you.

I am a c-IAYT… and NO.

Please do not let this go forward. It does not work. The education that other professionals have was not obtained through a yoga lens. It's been said before. We need to keep the yoga in yoga therapy.

Yoga is a complete and time-honored system of healing. Yoga therapists devote years of study, personal practice, and deep inner work to understand its roots, its lineage, and its pathways of self-awareness and care. Our health-care providers bring tremendous skill and heart to their own fields, yet their education follows a different thread. A full yoga therapy training doesn’t replace what they already know — it enriches it. It weaves beautifully with their gifts, offering a depth that simply can’t be reached through shortcuts.

It is competitive enough to maintain credentials and find enough work to sustain that and meet the cost of living. Let’s not water it down and make it harder again for us but easier for those who chose a different path. They do their work and we support their work with ours. This is our passion as well as our livelihood. Isn’t the allopathic medical system already overloaded? Why add more to that system which gets watered down to save money and time in the hand if efficiency everyday whilst our modality struggles to grow.

I'm a full-time, salaried yoga therapist (not a licensed clinician) in a behavioral health setting. Implementing this designation will only create more confusion when there is already so much, and will diminish opportunities for those who are truly qualified (in an already scarce job pool). I've seen a lot of harm done by those who utilize YT interventions without a full scope, and it compromises care and risks re-traumatization. Ahimsa-this is a heartbreaking thing to implement when it goes against the care and protection of your long-time members. Please reconsider the impact.

I believe this takes away for all those who have worked for hard and studied. Please reconsider. Blessings

Keep Yioga Therapy as it’s own entity. This will only increase the legitimacy and the efficacy of the field and our special expertise we have trained and trained for. Thank You
