Dear Drexel community!

It was decided that the Drexel Shuttle Bus service on the Blue & Gold route will be stopped completely at the beginning of the summer term and for the foreseeable future.

We do not support this decision.

Many students live in the area around 40th Street on Penn Campus and beyond. In fact, many students, including ourselves, decided to live in housing in this area because the Drexel Shuttle Bus connects it to the campus of Drexel.

Housing on Drexel campus are sparse and very expensive, therefore not affordable for most of Drexel’s students. However, housings at 40th Street and beyond are growing fast with more and more students living there.

Furthermore, the shuttle allows students living on Drexel campus to access necessities, such as the grocery store on 40th and Walnut St. With grocery stores being few and far between, this is one of the main stores students use.

Stopping the Drexel Shuttle Bus Service comes with an tremendous decrease of the security of your students. This will especially affect students taking late classes where they may not get out until 9 or 10 at night.

Athletes will also not be able to get to Vidas Field for their training, in particular when they have to transport their sports equipment with them.

Please support us against this decision! The more signatures we get the more likely we can do something about this situation!
