I am a resident of the South French Broad neighborhood (Vernell Ave) and am in full support of Aston Park adding a disc golf course. I play basketball, tennis, and disc golf, so I often spend time practicing the first two at Aston Park.
I love Aston Park, but aside from the tennis courts, it is underutilized given the central location in Asheville. A disc golf course would be a fantastic way to add to the uses of the green space while also leaving the park essentially untouched.
As an avid disc golfer, I know Asheville is a great disc golf destination, but many of the courses can be challenging to beginners and children. A “beginners” course is the exact thing Asheville is missing, and adding this course will allow easier entry to the game of disc golf.
Thank you for considering this awesome idea, and I hope you decide to act on it!
