I totally disagree with the new rule as it will change the dogs perspective of retrieving and so will change the sport.

I am against the proposed change. Even in Obedience sport the dumbbell is thrown. It's also a point where balance between drive for the dumbbell and control is shown. IPO is easy enough already, all these recent changes won't bring new people in. But it might make the present ones leave. IPO won't be massively popular because it takes a lot of time of the modern busy life, and it's ok.

Please do not change the current retrieve rules.
If there is an issue with the throwing, then perhaps the handler can practice more to get more consistent distances.

Please do not destroy the IPO sport by removing challenges for dog and handler. The proposed changes in the retrieve will make the sport less challenging, and less interesting to participants and audience
