It's a senseless confusion of good rules.

It is IPO, not other sports. Do not facilitate it. This sport should have many challenges for dog and handler. Throwing a dumbel is one!

Please stop this change for the retrieve and also all others change to the IPO 1,2&3 ! If any one will do a light IPO they have the IPO V - BUM !

Strongly disagree. If they change it, in my opinion they should name the title differently like Light IPO for those who are lazy. But leave the real IPO alone!

I don't understand the purpose of this change. What would be the rationale? I have to agree with the petition that it would make the exercises less dynamic.

As a spectator I can only say that the competitions as they are, are fantastic to follow and although I don't know very much about IPO, I could enjoy it. If things get too long and individual, the attention of the audience will disappear. We see that in other sports as well, who ever watched a marathon from the first meter to the last?

NO to the changes of the retrieve. Also, when the dumbbell is thrown it lands in different positions (straight up and down, to the left, to the right), the dog must learn to wait until the handler sends the dog to get the dumbbell. The throwing of the dumbbell triggers the prey in the dog, so the dog has to learn to control its impulses and wait until it is commanded to retrieve the dumbbell. Also regardless of the position in which the dumbbell lands the dog must still retrieve the dumbbell. If the dumbbell rolls to the left or right after it is thrown over the jump or wall this often causes the dog to go around the jump or wall to retrieve the dumbbell without completing the task jumping or scaling the wall. The better trained dogs regardless of how the dumbbell is trained will complete the jump or wall and retrieve the dumbbell and jump back over the jump or scale back over the wall. With placement we never can truly test the dog's obedience to the exercise and the handler's commands.

I strongly disagree with this new rule. Why in the world would they make this silly change.

Il cambiamento elimina l'unica parte un po' dinamica della fase di obbedienza dell'IPO.
