DirectTV Now Refund
Since the launch of DirectTV Now on November 30th, 2016, it's been nothing but issues. I was looking at trying to find a service that would help with cutting the cord and getting an internet ready service. DirectTV Now was very promising, offering promo plans for $35 a month, and if you paid up front for 1 month you received an Amazon Fire Stick, and for 3 months you received an Apple TV. Sounds promising right? Well guess again. Ever since I've signed up for the 3 months, my service hardly ever works. My app freezes, I get playback errors, and their somewhat called "customer service" does nothing to help. They don't offer refunds, since they claim they are strictly automated prepaid internet streaming provider. I can watch Netflix, Hulu, HBO Go, ESPN Now, everything just fine, but not DirectTV Now.
I ran into one instance where I wanted to add HBO onto my DirectTV Now plan, but was also curious what channels were in the higher plan. I clicked on the "view channels" and didn't realize that it actually selects the plan. So not seeing that it did that, I selected HBO like I intended, proceeded, and confirmed my change. However, as soon as it happened I was notified by email that I prepaid $111 for another 3 months. This was because when I selected the view channels it selected the higher plan as if I was doing a plan change. I immediately went back on, and changed my plan back to original plan, and contacted DirectTV Now online customer support to tell them the issue. Once I was in contact, they simply told me there's nothing they can do. They told me it's their policy that they don't do refunds. I'm sorry but it's misleading a simple mistake that was handled accordingly. Any business out there that sees this would understand and make it right. Not Direct TV.
I'm starting this petition because I feel that since the launch of this service, it's been nothing but headaches, not for me, but for many people out there that have had issues with freezes and playback error messages. I wanted something that was going to be easy and relaxing to use while being at home watching TV with the family. I can't use the app more than 15 minutes without having playback errors, and I end up just putting on Netflix or Hulu. I feel that DirectTV owes it to the people that they've mislead. They can't provide a service that is worth what we've paid for. I believe they should be refunding their customers for the inconsistent and misleading service.
