Only those with an actual investment in the industry should be compensated when the government negotiates away a portion of our production...not the governing bureaucracies!

directly compensate the producers with no strings attached as they have made the investment in buildings, quota, etc that is being taken away by these trade deals!

In retrospect TFC should have consulted with producers as to how these dollars were to be allocated.

Hello fellow turkey farmers. I agree 100 per cent with this petition. The small supply managed Canadian turkey industry is shrinking. We are not the Big chicken industry which keeps on growing. We are being hacked and slashed, almost to the point where there is no room for error on the farm. We all work very hard trying to grow nice high quality turkeys. And like a lot of things in life, there is obviously big risks with farming and in particular, turkey farming. The turkey industry here is pretty darn gloomy right now. And we farmers have given up a lot! These government funds must go directly to the turkey farmer, not a marketing agency that we have no idea what they are doing with this money. I totally agree we need marketing! It’s essential! But it needs to be done properly. The turkey industry needs to stop, take a breath and regroup in regards to marketing. I feel we give a lot all ready for marketing. Once again, this government money needs to be paid directly to the farmer. The turkey industry is weak right now, but we can turn this around. It can be done. Let’s do it right , marketing is key, but we need to be different as we are not the big chicken , egg or dairy supply managed industry

The intent of the government funds was to provide financial stability to farmers to continue producing healthy and quality products to Canadians. Sending millions to large advertising agencies doesn't help producers deal with current economic challenges; nor was the intent to line the pockets of these advertising firms with no tangible results.

Direct compensation to Canadian turkey farmers is essential for the future viability of the Canadian turkey industry.

I agree that money should be going to the producers

We already pay for marketing. This money should go to the individual producers to decide where they need to invest it.

100% agree! This compensation is meant to go to the producers, as they are the ones that loose the allocation.

As a farmers we are impacted by these government decisions and are paying the price. The compensation is best used by farmers, ourselves, versus industry participants who don’t have a direct or vested interest in the long term viability of the Canadian turkey sector. I encourage you to sign the petition.

We encourage you all to sign onto this petition. A part of our production that we alone carried the risk was negotiated away from us. Direct compensation is the only fair means of mitigating our loss.
