The food options here are honestly pathetic. Paying full price for a meal plan and only being able to eat lettuce is ridiculous

I have stricter dietary needs do to health and religious reasons, and more often than not I was unable to eat at Shaw because the food had been crosscontaminated with pork and such. I am not vegan or vegetarian, so it was really frustrating to try to eat breakfast or anything and be told well we have a salad bar and fruit.

Healthy options are a necessity, more fruit options as well as whole grain breads and cereals would definitely help.

I have complex dining needs. The majority of my diet consists of fresh produce. I had a meal plan this past year as a freshman and the provided dining services did not meet my needs. I was planning on exempting myself from having a meal plan for the rest of my time at the college, but then I found out about the coming shift in food providers. Here we have an opportunity as a community of impassioned learners to create a model for healthy and sustainable eating at an affordable cost. There are high quality small providers and local providers that can assist the Westminster dining experience. There are shifts that can be made in how food is sourced and bought, how meals are cooked, and how produce is sold. The campus gardens can be expanded and harvested. There are many avenues of possibility; I and many other students demand to be involved directly. You are what you eat; providing low quality, unethical, unsustainable, and unpalatable food to a student body is an insult to the principles of higher learning.
