From 1964 to 1974, Dick Allen's On base Slugging Percentage of .940 was second only to Hank Aaron's .941. When adjusted to league and park effects (OPS+), Allen's 165 number is number 1, topping HOFers of that period including McCovey 161, Aaron 159, and Frank Robinson 159. Ted Williams believed OPS was a key tool in evaluating hitters. If you look at the classic triple crown stats of batting average, home runs and runs batted in Dick Allen, during that time period, was 3rd in batting average with .299, 4th in home runs, 319, and 4th in rbis with 975. Dick Allen's performance in these stats was at the same level as HOFers Aaron, Frank Robinson, McCovey, Stargell and Clemente. Even using Sabermetrics like WAR, his number of 58.3 during that period, according to Baseball Reference, was 6th. In fact, the only 2 players who not in the HOF but in WAR top 10 are Dick Allen 58.3 and Pete Rose, 57.7.

If Ron Santo is a Hall of Famer. Then Richie Allen should be one. Allen was much better offensively.

I saw Dick play in the '60's. He batted against some of the games greatest pitcher. Koufax, Gibson, Drysdale and Marichal. Let me tell you. He feared no one. But the sure as hell feared him since they were afraid that a ball hit back to the mound could possibly kill them. Dick Allen is the most powerful Hitter in the History of Baseball. According to a baseball histroian Dick Allen hit at least 20 or 25 Home Rums over 500 feet. Do you know that between 2000 and 2014, which is 15 seasons, only one player has hit a ball 500 ft. That player was Adam Dunn. When Allen was playingthe ballparks were bigger, pitching was better and the ball was dead. In the 21st century. all of that is completely the oppsite. Why the Hell Dick Allen isn't in the Hall of Fame is a big mystery to me. Perhaps, they Hall of Fame people will do the right thing and put him in. But for now, whether he is in or not he was the most dynamic player I ever saw play the game.

165 OPS+ during 10 year period. Best in baseball. Others who trailed behind were Mays, Aaron and Stargell. All of these players are Hall of famers. Why isn't Dick Allen. Somone isn't doing their homework.

I read a book called Hardball and Hardship and the author was a gorundskeeper at Veteran's Stadium. He dedicatred a chapter to Dick Allen. I knew Dick Allen was a greart talent, but after reading the book I never realized he was such a great human being. Dick Allen is a Hall of Fame Player and Person /1

OPS+ of 165 for a 10 year period, ranks him number one from 1964 to 1973. He was ahead of about 15 current Hall of famers. How come he is not with them. It's a travisty !

No doubt a hall of famer. Dick has the stats and name recognition. He belongs with Aaron, Mays, Mantle and the others.
