Develop Historic Broadway NOT wastefully widen the roadway

The Grant widening was a serious black eye on the city planners. I don't know the current status, but for years the scuttlebutt was that acquisition would occur on one side of the street so business owners on that side didn't invest in improvements, AND THEN THEY SWITCHED SIDES. Broadway doesn't need alignment, especially just a few years after the planners insinuated that crazy curve. For the money use reversible lanes, or figure out the synchronization of lights.

Seems like very wasteful spending to not significantly increase traffic flow. I'm hearing 6 seconds. We are going to ruin all the small local businesses and keep Starbucks and Brake Masters. Surprise, Surprise.

1. It is not necessary.
2. It would be a waste of money.
3. It would continue to encourage personal car use over public transportation.

On April 5 Tucson's Mayor and Council will be staring down the proverbial fork in the road. It is my hope that the path they take is one that respects the will of those who have worked so hard, for so long to prevent the unnecessary destruction of their neighborhood. It's time to take the blinders off and look around - the world of transit is changing.

Mayor & Council and people of Tucson need to pay attention to this design where everyone loses: the drivers, the pedestrians, the handicapped, the business owners, the neighbors and most importantly Our Future!
We are asking Mayor & Council to reclaim their authority on April 5, by "insuring" the task force recommendations and holding the project team accountable. They signed and the people of Tucson were promised one plan on June 5,2015, this new alignment plan is unrecognizable. We can do better!

From the beginning, I've said we only need four lanes, plus bus pull outs. I never see cars sit through more than one stop light in from of my store. It is ridiculous to waste money on a project that's not needed and destroys historic buildings, businesses and the fabric of the Sunshine Mile and the Sunshine City.

I have tried to see the merit in the Broadway widening plan and can not find anything except destruction of the Sunshine Mile and the closure of many local businesses. It will destroy a lot of the Mid century Architecture that defines the area, but we save Starbucks. This is as senseless as tearing down the Barrio to build the Tucson Convention Center. Do we never learn?

Our community cannot afford this disastrous plan, financially or in any other way. The 30% drawings disrespect the public, the Citizen Task Force and the Mayor & Council. The Broadway Project must be paused to take account of new analysis showing widening will not improve traffic flow. Mayor and Council must not fund the 30% drawings on April 5.

we need a "road streamline" on Broadway- with an HCT extension to El Con/Hi Corbett within the existing roadway footprint, just as they did with the SunLink starter line. it's time to make the streetcar the core link of our transportation system, not delegate it to a glorified shuttle. give us all, the entire city, full multimobility options to access the historic Sunshine Mile, Downtown, UA, 4th Ave, and the Mercado instead of this car-centric plan.

I at one point supported the narrowest concept of this plan, but now that I have seen the partial designs I again feel that this roadway is being designed only from a traffic engineering standpoint, and is not making nearly enough of an effort to protect the economic viability of the business infrastructure in the area, let alone historic assets. I drive this area daily and never experience excessive delays.

Explain this situation to a 4 year old and they get this isn't the right thing to do because despite ALL the research and worldwide knowledge and experience--in the end, all it takes is COMMON SENSE.
