Develop Historic Broadway NOT wastefully widen the roadway

The fact that this plan has gone this far shows a lack of leadership on the part of the RTA Board, County Board of Supervisors and the Tucson City Council. It became evident several years ago that this project was not needed. A proposal could have been made to the voters to do some needed street improvements on Broadway and to redirect the remaining funds proportionally to City and County road improvement. It would have easily passed.

Let's focus money on things that keep us off the roads. Expand the streetcar or convert some intersections to over/under flow. And with some extra money please add awareness sensors to existing inefficient traffic lights.

A new improvement plan for Broadway should not narrowly focus on widening lanes for automobiles. History has shown widening lanes for cars never solve the traffic issue in the long run. A project that focuses on using streetcar to strengthen the public transit, adding more bike and pedestrian friendly features on both sides of the road, and encouraging local business development in this historical area would bring significant benefits to this proposed project area as well as downtown.

I've never had trouble with traffic congestion on that section of Broadway, but I've had plenty of problems trying to navigate around potholes on many other streets.

I see no value for an out of date plan, made when cars were the only reliable way to get downtown. NO to widening Bdway.

The only possible reason I can see for widening Broadway would be if we are adding a streetcar line out east, which I think would be great. I live in Armory Park and travel to El Con multiple times a week... the widening for cars alone is simply not necessary and will in fact be a major burden during construction. We need to focus on alternative modes of transportation.

Remember the fiasco from the 60s when they demolished great swathes of the various downtown for a theater and shopping mall...learn from your past mistakes. We need more Laruas and fewer Corollas on Broadway.

This is counter to sustainability! Please do NOT do this.

Reacting to old priorities and data is not good or wise leadership. Leadership that listens, that considers the multi-faceted impact on the quality of life, and sense of place that strengthens community engagement and is a proven long-term economic driver is what is needed. Brave and daring leaders are not afraid to take a second or third look, to listen and adjust their recommendations and decisions. We should not widen Broadway. Pretty soon we will not be able to tell if we are in Tucson, or some generic anywhere USA city.

Broadway should not be widened until Aviation Highway connects to I-10. Stupid to have 4 lanes feed into one or two congested lanes downton aka Congress blocks. Traffic on Broadway flows fine UNTIL u approach DT. that intersection of Broadway y, Toole, 4th Ave, Trolley & pedestrians is DANGEROUS & CONFUSING

make it beautiful, historical and fun! NO MORE "COOKIE CUTTER"- too much of that already here

This will not help businesses and it will not help Tucson. It is backwards and it's time to not only rethink how we develop Broadway but to take action to prevent further damage.

I remember when it was widened the last time. Stupid waste if money.

City Council must respond, not just react.

STOP designing our city for cars and START giving priority to people and sense of place.

Cities that preserve their architectural integrity are usually rewarded. Do we really need to spend $75 million on this unnecessary project?

I thought Tucson was progressive and smart; this is ridiculous and pointless. Still time to STOP THIS.

All that money, lost businesses and heartache for what? Find a way to connect aviation to i10 instead and do the cheaper solution for i10 and i19 instead of the boondogle i11. And forget about broadway. Rent or sell off (without the usual corruption) the city properties on Broadway. It is criminal how the city has leet that beautiful pink house sit and rot!

We need street improvements for transit and bikes, not more space for cars. Let's disincentivize private vehicle traffic and create a walkable, vibrant corridor!
