Develop Historic Broadway NOT wastefully widen the roadway

This section of Broadway needs revitalization. Thoughtful improvements to existing pedestrian/bus/bike routes can perhaps be accomplished without widening. Simply having an end to endless planning will help by providing property owners with the certainty they need to make improvements to their buildings and fully invest in the future potential of this section. The transition between 6 lanes down to the bottleneck of downtown has always seemed problematic, and the widening will not help.

The City of Tucson should get out of the RTA - it takes city taxpayer dollars and spends most of it to promote urban sprawl by building roads in the far flung reaches of the county. The RTA does not get that building roads in densely developed areas requires thoughtful planning and should never be done at the expense of those who are most impacted by the roadway. I would rather see Broadway left alone than to submit to the wholesale destruction of historic structures and neighborhoods.

This proposal was approved in 2006, and so much has happened in the meantime to render that decision meaningless. Only a mindless juggernaut proceed as before. We have urban revitalization, and greenspaces, bike-to-work, modern streetcar, infill, Julian wash bikeway, Cyclovia awareness raising and critical mass. I vote no on Broadway widening.

Broadway widening is a ridiculous plan. It's not too late to stop it.

Do not go through with this plan! Save our historic architecture! Do not waste tax dollars on poor planning..

This is just another wasteful use of taxpayer money,like the T.C.. C. Back in the day ,La Placita,the T.E.P. park ,Rio Nuevo,and countless other crap you waste the money on.....fund a decent place where we can rehabilitateo ur homeless people and get them a decent job ,you talk about beatification of our city...fix the damn roads coming in from the airport it is embarrassing to think that a newcomer first thing they see is our city streets all messed up feelingl ije they have never been worked on since the city was founded

I am opposed to the widening of this section of Broadway. There is already a significant chokepoint downtown, where Broadway meets 4th avenue. The added dorms, businesses and streetcar have made this congestion a reality. Please consider other options. We are Armory Park residents (and voters) who use this route frequently.

Please don't move forward with this project. Widening would not alleviate traffic congestion. This particular stretch of Broadway is not the bottleneck.

A city cannot pave its way out of congestion. We've seen it time and time again in places like Los Angeles and Phoenix.

Why not invest in extending the street car instead? So many would take it if it went to the airport.

I've lived in Tucson 23 years. The town's pride in its history is one of the most valuable assets we have. This section of Broadway is a great piece of that history. Back when the road expansion was planned, few knew how much the nation and the city would come to value mid century architecture. And few correctly predicted how Tucson would grow. This road project no longer makes sense. It would sacrifice too much of our history, and bring too little benefit. Let's start overand design infrastructure that really does more good than harm, rather than being stuck on an outdated idea.

I am so happy that this is being fought for. Tucson doesn't need any more big streets. It needs community scaled streets. And that can mean having cars, but also designing pedestrian spaces and focusing development along side for people, not for cars
