We already have this excellent service in the poli sci department, but it would be a great service to base in the libraries.

I was at a large public university that offered this service to faculty for free. Seems we should have this at Stanford.

I had this service at both of my prior universities --Wisconsin and Cornell. At Stanford, I routinely buy books from Amazon only because Amazon delivers them.

It would a great boon to my research and teaching as I have a very busy schedule and baby to care for. There's no reason why entrepreneurial Stanford cannot provide this service as so many others do.

We would collectively save so much time that it would really boost our productivity.

Library delivery is a common service at leading universities, and would facilitate our research so that Stanford scholarship can maintain an edge vis-a-vis competing institutions.

As a graduate student, I remember this being a selling point for other graduate programs. It would be invaluable.

There are quite a few other institutions with similar services. The University of Richmond, where I taught as a vistor, delivers books and articles directly to faculty in departments. It made a real difference in accomplishing research as was also true of my experience of the document delivery services at CASBS, at the Getty Center (in partnership with UCLA), and several other places I have visited. This should be a top priority for a well-endowed research institution. I'm pretty sure some UC campuses (e.g. UC San Diego) have this service as well.

If the University of Central Florida with a $125 million endowment can do it, then Stanford with a $19 billion endowment can surely do it too!
