Article 7 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights clearly states that no individual shall be subject to "torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment".
I believe that the circumstances at hand, with the individual's mother accompanying him and his friends on their trip is a gross violation of international standards, and as of such am in support of this petition. If this does not resolve the issue, then I believe that the matter should be taken to a higher authority, such as the International Criminal Court.
