When I was a kid, all of my friends had dolls that looked like them ("me dolls" were all the rage in the late 90s) being mixed, there were none that looked like me. Then my parents got me the most beautiful black Barbie doll for Christmas. I didn't even like Barbies, I used their clothes for my Beanie Babies, but I loved her. She had a red holiday dress with white and gold trim, glossy black hair and perfect chocolate skin. I never forgot how it made me feel to see a doll of color. I was so proud. Every kid should get to feel that way.
