Please note the "teach the controversy" (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teach_the_Controversy) is a religious campaign to force schools to teach a specific religion. The "think tank" company (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discovery_Institute) is out of Seattle, and this is their mission paper. (https://ncse.com/creationism/general/wedge-document) They initially started with "creationism", changed to "intellectual design", it's now "teach the controversy", and will soon be changing to "critical analysis of evolution".(https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/discovert_institute_intelligent_design_campaigns) Public schools are prohibited by the US Constitution, Ohio Laws and ODE regulations from teaching a specific religion.

This is a public school system. Creationist theory, climate change denial, and homophobia disguised as sex Ed do not belong in the curriculum. There are plenty of private school options if these are the type of topics you want your children to learn about.

The truth should be there for children to hear. They shouldn't only hear one side of an issue or topic.

Find a church and let them teach what they want. Seperation of church and state... ever heard of it?

I feel that the schools are getting very out of control. Teaching things that are highly inappropriate. There should be two sides and not just one. I do t care who the teacher is and what they believe. It's called being fair.

I can't sign this petition as I don't believe our educational system should be teaching religion, political views or telling children about sexual orientation. Learning of science and evolution are school topics. Religious based ideas are church topics. Global warming and causation are for scientists to figure out, not our school systems. Opinions of Democrat/Republican ideas need not be present in our schools. Spreading political views to our children is (i do believe) against the law. There was a bit to much of it spread during the 2016 elections which shouldn't have happened. As for sex education. Teach kids about the health issues not sex issues. Do not think about telling my children it is ok or becoming acceptable to change their sexual orientation. Not schools place to teach nor will it ever be.

Interesting how everyone is suppose to have freedom of choice in this country though our education system ignores this principle by not presenting both views of controversial topics.

This petition lines up not only with what I teach at home but with my teaching philosophy that discussion is essential and good discussion must include all viewpoints.

The matters under discussion are not settled scientific truths. Nor are they neutral assessments of facts arrived at scientifically. They are built upon philosophical commitments that are, at best, unstable. Only the teaching of alternate interpretations will alert students to the complexity of the issues. Give them the benefit of honest disagreement with popular ideas.

Teaching both sides of an issue equally is what education should be. Children are not sheep and should be given all the possible available information to choose for themselves. Train them to think not just learn.

I believe true education must present all sides and students must be allowed to ask questions and to think and decide for themselves what the truth is.

While I do not agree with every opposing perspective, I do believe that populism should not drive the conversation. Rather, different perspectives and critical thought are the cornerstone of education. Without those, education becomes diluted indoctrination.
