I wrote to the FCC last January when this debacle happened. Clear Channel, subsidiary of Bain Capital, exposed the most flagrant display of partisan politics when within 3 days after the election, they pulled the programming of the only progressive radio in Oregon, KPOJ 620 AM. Instead, they put on the fifth sports radio format in Portland. This outrage was an obvious political payback for an informed cizenry voting with knowledge provided by the progressive format. I was distraught and had to pay hundreds of dollars to obtain podcasts of truth-tellers rather than having easy access from the radio. Look at what has happened to this country by the almost total capture of the airwaves by right-wing propagandists.

The power of an entity that controls such a huge portion of the media to shape public opinion to its own ends is not serving the public interest. The distorted perception of government, of democracy, of equality even of compromise, the spine of democracy, that Clear Channel saturates the airwaves with is undermining the dream that the founding fathers set in motion. Media monopolies are cancerous to our society and our nation.

Portland (and it's surrounding areas) needs it's only progressive talk radio station back.

changing to yet another sports station had nothing to do with demand, but as a ploy to inhibit free speech and provide a balance to other talk shows with a far right, unprogressive stance.

We don't need another sports station.
We need real, solid information. Enough sports!
