The replacement of station dedicated to any public discussion with a sports station in a market already saturated with these is NOT in the public interest. Perhaps the bandwidth is better allocated to local micro-stations in the Portland area.

I love sports and free speech and also agree with the general sentiment of this petition. It has gotten that bad.

The ONLY station in Northern Oregon / Southern Washington to present an alternative political and economic view has been silenced by "Big Brother, Inc." and replaced by yey another "sports station" ad nausium. Even AM 1090 in Seattle had its progressive voice replaced by (guess what?) - a SPORTS STATION. We need another "sports station" like I need a sleep apnea evaluation (I'm a fat pilot). SHUT DOWN "KPOJ". It's a waste of electricity and fine office space.

For the community to be truly served and informed, it must have access to all points of view. A conservative echo chamber was able to use their wealth to silence opposing points of view

We were "informed" the switch to a sports format was because the public affairs format, including dialogues with authors and public servants, whose collective IQs made us all a lot smarter, was drawing insufficient revenues. Unless there is a massive subisdy availalbe to the station for broadcasting sports, I find it very difficult to beleive that sports-focused advertising dollars are sginificantly better (Politically-informed people also drink beer!).

I've traveled around the country and there are so many places that one point of view dominates the airwaves in many cases to the point where only one perspective is even available. In some cases, the very same feed is on multiple stations. Democracy cannot succeed, let alone even function, when there is no diversity of information. Mega media corporations are literally depriving democracy of it's most important resource, diversity. The responsibility for this most important public interest lies with the FCC. Media monopolies are are strangling our democracy and need to be curtailed. Do your job and protect the information channels.

I may not live in Portland, however, I listened to KPOJ in Los Gatos, CA every morning when it carried great talk programing. Please carefully consider this petition. There is a price we all pay for not staying broadly informed. The FCC has a heavy responsibility to keep the public fully informed.

It is time for a return to progressive radio for this station. There are plenty of sports oriented media--please give us back our station!

I want balanced airwaves! I have more than enough places to get my sports info.
