Denville NJ Pet Chickens

I support the sustainability of having ones own chickens. We are a neighbor and they do NOT bother us and are a joy and a blessing.

I hope that Denville will consider changing their ordinances. Please allow this family to keep their 3 pet chickens. They are not harming anyone.

Please let this family keep their chickens. They are not harming anyone, the children are learning responsibility, and how to live a healthier lifestyle.

I am saddened and embarrassed to live in a town that would persecute a family for keeping 3 hens as pets. I appeal to the local governing authorities to please re-evaluate the existing legislation and to apply some basic common sense to modify said legislation to permit these pets to remain on the premises.

These chickens are not harming anyone! Let this man keep his chickens!

Perhaps someone can explain to me who changed the way the court rules work in Denville? Is it no longer a municipality giverned by the laws of the State of New Jersey? Last time I went to law school (ok, it was a long time ago, but still...), on the trial date, the Prosecutor puts on his case and either wins or loses. How is it that in this case, 54 days after a summons was issued to the Cunninghams, following one adjournment of the trial date without explanation, that Prosecutor Peafowl requests a search warrant?!?!?!!?! And Judge ChickenHater grants it and blows off the trial?!?!?! For what? So the Township can turn the Cunninghams' home upside down looking for eggs? To unnecessarily upset their children, who must be very worried about their pet hens? Gimme a break. This is absurd.

How are chickens different from other small pets such as rabbits, guinea pigs or even cats?

Please add chickens to the list of pets allowed in Denville.

I think this is a great idea!!! Can we amend the ordinance to also allow residents to keep aardvarks as pets? We live in Denville and have an aardvark named Mike who we rescued from an aardvark shelter. He's pretty clean and can sign 35 different words. At this point, because the law does not allow us to keep Mike as a pet, he is a fugitive without any means for justice. This saddens Mike. When we go into town for sushi, Mike has to sit by the kitchen window waiting for us. He signs "spicy tuna roll" over and over again. We often find him crying when we return home. It's hurts us to see him this way. Mike has completely changed our family. Madge has started carving her giant spoons again and I'm back to playing with my friends in the Coleman Jug Band. Our oldest, Fletcher, has blossomed in the light of our rescue aardvark. His long-lost smile has returned and he rarely eats with his feet anymore. Who Rescued Who, indeed. Free Mike!!!

I live in Denville and would love for to be allowed to have chickens as pets. I have 1.6 acres and also believe they could help with ticks, Japanese beetles and other pests as well. It is a great experience for kids to understand and learn about a self sustaining lifestyle. Why should those with more than 5 acres have that privilege?
