Petition to stop the train horn noise pollution at private crossings in Denver and surrounding areas

I live in Castle Rock and by the railroad tracks and the noise is insane. The trains sound thier horns at all hours at infrequent intervals late night and way to loud, infact there goes another one. I hear this all night and I and COUNTLESS others in the city and around Colorado are losing valuable sleep. This is so unsafe as now there are probably tens of thousands of people endangering themselves due to this intrusion of railroad horns in the name of safety. This make no since at all. This is causing unsafe driving conditions daily for me, I just moved to my new home 2 months ago and haven't had one good night sleep yet. This has to stop..... Thank you, Jeff Bellamy

I live in Baker and the trains are non-stop all day and night and SO loud.

It outright noise pollution. A-train is every 20 minutes in both directions and I feel like I live in a busy ship harbor. There are train crossings that warn and block people/cars to stay off the tracks when a train is coming. The honking is overkill and it sounds like they do it for fun sometimes to greet each other. more and more residential areas are developing around train stations and crossings and this will only become more of a problem in disrupting people's quality of life.

There is also unnecessary horn noise from one train to another just saying "{hi i'm here, where are you". boys with toys.

There is no good reason to destroy the sounds of the night in the neighborhood.

I agree wholeheartedly. I am originally from New Jersey and they were able to eliminate train horns by erecting impassable barriers at each intersection where traffic crossed railroad tracks. Although it comes with a substantial price tag, I believe that residents of Denver would be willing to pay for this to finally eliminate the noise that has disrupted so many households.

Same here! And, during the day, at particular hours, when the trains pass by, you simply cannot carry on a phone conversation...

I wonder if ANYONE at a higher level is actually listening to all of us! This situation has gotten way out of control!!! A plea for help does not seem to fall on the right ears, I guess.

Could not agree more with your comment, Jeanette! I live in Westminster (it really is Arvada, but a very small area belongs to the City of Westminster, where I also pay my taxes!) and only 0.6 miles away from the 76th Street train crossing. The noise is maddening, let alone having to deal with the consequences of it all. I almost feel that, especially at night, the train engineers use the horns on purpose! No matter how insulated one's home is, how 'thick' the windows are, it feels like the trains are passing through one's bedroom! I am European by birth, but have lived in the States for 30 years. Nowhere would this situation be acceptable. And I have always lived in the vicinity of train tracks, but in this area, the noise pollution is beyond anyone's (anyone who is impacted by it) imagination!

Please help stop this disturbing noise that affects the peace and quiet of many people throughout the night.

We must noise. Pollution. We must gather together and get one volumous petition? Can each county vote about train notice? Could we get that a ballot? However I am not a political person, I know nothing about politics.

I guess that when the tracks were first laid down these areas were open plains, but now that the Denver metro area has become so populated it no longer makes sense to have this round-the-clock noise here. If it isn't possible for the conductors to avoid blasting their horns overnight the tracks should relocate far outside developed areas. (The overnight construction and industrial noise in Arvada are ridiculous, as well.)

The length and level of train noise is appalling in Broomfield, Co for all residents along 120th ave. blasting 5 + times per night from midnight to 4am is simply uncalled for.
