The railroad finally agreed to stop the excessive horn noise at these crossings. It has been a long and draining fight but our neighborhood will finally have some peace at night. I am going to keep monitoring the situation to ensure this change lasts.

Petition to stop the train horn noise pollution at private crossings in Denver and surrounding areas

The frequency, volume, and hours of the train horns at night create a negative environment for sleep, healing, working, and the overall quality of life. And last, but not least, the noise pollution caused by these train horns has created an undue financial burden upon us by negatively impacting the value of our homes.
ACTION PETITIONED FOR: We, the undersigned, urgethe United Pacific Railroad & The Burlington Northern Railroad Company to cease blowing train horns at all hours of the night, and to create a "Quiet Zone" within our neighborhoods.

The emails to the rail companies go unanswered again but the silence from them is just more fuel for us. I spend my nights cataloging the decibel levels while the rest of the house tries to sleep. We are not letting this go despite the exhaustion.

Seeing the count climb past this point reminds me that I am not the only one losing sleep over these horns. It is exhausting to keep fighting, but knowing so many neighbors feel this same weight makes the path ahead look a little clearer.

I live in Jefferson Park. The train horns have recently increased in frequency and volume. 4am, 5am, 10pm, 11pm and so loud it's in my bedroom. Can't sleep with windows open. Why is the horn blowing necessary at this level?????
I live at 30th Ave and Zuni St, and I cannot sleep because of the horns. It wakes me up several times every night. I cannot believe this is happening.
The noise has become unbearable. It goes all night long. can hear the train horn through my earplugs and I don't even live that close!
Same here! And, during the day, at particular hours, when the trains pass by, you simply cannot carry on a phone conversation...
The length and level of train noise is appalling in Broomfield, Co for all residents along 120th ave. blasting 5 + times per night from midnight to 4am is simply uncalled for.
I live in lapeer michigan and it is the same here. Not only is the horn blowing incredibly loud, but some trains spew toxic burning black goo that smells line burnt hydraulic fluid or oil. Try sleeping through that on a hot muggy night.

We live at 26th and Irving and many nights can't sleep with our windows open due to the incessant train horn honking. It's ridiculous, the laying on the horn for minutes. It is decreasing the quality of our lives here and there MUST be another solution!
