We agree. Especially when Upper Sixth have already been told to expect predicted grades and have limited need for any further tutition with the exception of BTEC and teacher input into grade assessment. These are incredibly difficult times both financially and otherwise. We were expecting to see a complete or near cancellation of this terms fees.

I have been advised a 15% reduction?? Where is the other 10%. I am keen also to understand how the quality of teaching is going to be maintained especially when the quality of communication with parents is so low.

I don't endorse all of the arguments above but the school's response could be characterised as "let's pretend things haven't changed much and hope that parents don't notice that much of what they pay for is no longer being provided and we can carry on charging accordingly".
The Upper Sixth situation is especially ridiculous. State schools have ceased their assessment (the basis of the A levels results now) from the lockdown. Denstone did not. It is making the kids do more assessments (for reasons that the school was utterly unable to justify) in what appears to be simply an excuse for pretending they are working so that they can charge in full.

I am disappointed by this petition i think it shows a lack of understanding and sympathy. The schools costs this year will be broadly the same as last. They are still paying staff, holding lessons, maintaining buildings and all the other things required to keep the business going. So any reduction of the fees will lead to a funds shortfall which, if significant, would affect the school for years to come. In fact, they are just like every other business in the UK. Its like asking Tesco to give a discount because you are not visiting their stores any more and shopping on line or asking the government for a tax rebate because the state schools are closed.
I am all in favour of helping parents who's financial situation has become critical. In fact I would support not giving a general discount and helping those that have fallen on hard times. This should be done on a case by case basis and be dealt with swiftly and sympathetically to try and relieve some of the pressure. I would urge parents that can to waive the discount and put it towards a bursary fund to help out.
What matters most at the moment is that the school concentrates on trying to educate our children as best they can without the distraction of moaning parents trying to save a few pounds.
We are all in this together, the sacrifices being made by others in society are huge and for our benefit, it time to step up, pay the fees if we can and try to smile about it!
