This church went through an arduous process to attain this Open and Affirming distinction. It is a powerful statement to assure that certain "kinds of people" are welcome regardless of their orientation.

There is no room for bigotry and hate in Dennis, truly thought we had made more progress here. So very disappointed in the Village Improvement Society, they are taking steps backwards with this blatant act of exclusion!

I have been a member of this wonderful church for 13 years. The fact that people are using their own homophobic mindset to abuse their position of power is disgusting.

I agree. I think the village group's decision is subjective, and ultimately, discriminatory. I think the sign as put forth by the church should be allowed

I support the Dennis Union Church in its effort to show the world that it is an open and affirming congregation. The VIP needs to be more broadminded in how it functions to serve the betterment of the community. Locking the Village in amber does not serve the interests of anyone.

I am both sickened and disguised by the decision of this board to openly discriminate against a whole group of tax paying individuals. The worst part is, they feel they have the right to discriminate on behalf of a church. A church that does not discriminate, and actually follows the teachings of Jesus. What does this say about this group, besides it's time they step down and allow those who are not bigots to step in, and do the job they were supossed to do. Shame on you.

I really can't see how one little line of color could be offensive to anyone.

I find this offensive. There should be no discrimination to the LGBT community. The church should be able to change their sign to include the LGBT colors AND add the LGBT slogan to their sign.

Do not discriminate! The sign change does not violate code but affirms everyone is welcome in this place.

This church is all about love in the name of Jesus. So, what would Jesus do? The answer is love; love your neighbor without reservation, without censure, without malice. A place of God displaying their mission of inclusivity trumps any earthly authority worried about something as innocuous as a symbol of a rainbow - created by God, BTW, just as He created the people represented by that rainbow.
