There are no words for this. We live in a bilingual country! The last time I checked, Quebec is still a part of Canada. I don't get told that I can't speak French in Ontario! This is completely against our Charter of Rights. And this is coming from a person whose entire family is francophone and living in Quebec.

I am so confused...if we are a bilingual country, how can it be illegal to use one of the official languages? Why does Quebec get to make up BS laws like this that infringe on my rights? Hence the reason why so many people are fleeing the province....Canada's own private dictatorship in the middle of the country where the right of an individual mean absolutely nothing....

This is a free country and Quebec has to realize that everyone has EQUAL rights. You are not special and culture and language lives and dies in the home,not by legislation and bulling.

I am a strong supporter of cultural rights, but as a resident of an officially bilingual province I can't help but question this one. If seeing the word "Toronto" in public is going to make a "True Quebecois forget their heritage" then what hope is there for either the Anglo or Francophone culture in New Brunswick. This seems to be more about fear than about actual cultural rights.

This is absolutely ridiculous, especially giving them a fine because they have an English licence plate! Parti Quebecois is a real JOKE! People fought for our freedom of speech! I can't believe this is happening, were 2014 for god sakes, do something better with your lives than fining people who have English licence plates or "Toronto" written on a box!!!
