Hybrid / online learning is not going well in our family. It is ruining my relationships with my children as they are frustrated and overwhelmed. The teachers are doing an amazing job , it’s just not the way my children learn at their ages.

The amount of stress and anxiety this has been causing my daughter is unimaginable. I feel we were misled with hybrid model. It is extremely difficult to keep her interested in school and complete her assignments. This is a critical point in her life full of changes just because she is in 7th grade. She needs more face to face time with her teachers and her school friends.

They are already doing that Cheryl. Not opening is what is right for the children for several reasons. The fear of them catching covid is only one of them. Reopening means putting teachers and other staff who are involved with your childs well being and education at risk as well as their families. Many of them would rather not be at the school at all and not put their own selves and families at risk. If the school reopens, they risk losing many of the educators they have leaving your childs education in the hands of whomever is available. Chances are, that means either a brand new kid out of college who has very little actual experience with a classroom of their own or a long term substitute who probably isnt trained in the subject they are being asked to supervise. Either way, the quality of the education your child receives ends up in a far worse position than it is now.

Well you should go back to school yourself then when this is all over because your confidence is wrong. You are looking at 1 aspect of the whole picture. Parents, teachers, and other staff at the building are put at risk as well. Chances are, many would quit. What happens when teachers and staff running the building quit? The quality of the education drops. That is not good for their futures or well being.

You left out the part where the staff and everyone else at the school and at the childrens homes aren't children and the fact that children are FANTASTIC breeding grounds for any virus/disease. Its not just about the kids, its about the teachers, the janitors, the administration, the IT workers, the librarians, cooks and everyone else who also need to be stuffed in the building all day. Just because kids may have less chance doesn't mean the rest of the people who are there do.

Yes, tell that to everyone else who has to also work in a giant petri dish during flu season in a global pandemic. Its not just about the parents of the kids or the kids themselves. Theres hundreds of other people and factors that go into reopening or not reopening the schools.

I agree that this hybrid model was a cheep trick being proposed at the board meeting without any mention of it at any of the previous coffee hours. I wish more people were running for school board so that we the parents could vote out every existing board member and start from scratch. Right now our children are really only going to school 2 days a week. Quit using political science and open up the schools.

Our kids are suffering. Parents are suffering. The Hybrid model education is sub-par. Our children need more teacher Interaction. For those who want to keep the kids virtual let them do so. Kids and parents should be allowed to chose a full schedule.

Hybrid model puts the children at risk of falling even further behind. The science says children have a very low risk of any complications from Covid 19. A very low risk of hospitalization due to covid 19.
