We, the residents of Jain Dream One located at Kadampukur - Jhalgachhi Rd, Patharghata, Newtown, Kolkata 700156, express our deep concern regarding the faulty construction of the water duct system in our complex. The water duct system, designed to be leak-proof, has exhibited significant flaws within a year of its construction. Residents across multiple blocks have reported dampness on walls adjacent to bathrooms and kitchens. This is not merely a cosmetic issue but a potential health hazard. Damp conditions create a breeding ground for mold, which can trigger respiratory problems according to a wealth of research, including a 2012 study published in the Indian Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine. More importantly, persistent moisture can lead to severe structural damage to the entire building within a few years, resulting in substantial financial losses for each resident. Given the severity of the issue, the situation has been reported by multiple owners to Jain Group representatives on innumerable occasions. Unfortunately, no corrective actions have been taken beyond temporary or cosmetic fixes that fail to address the root cause of the problem. We, the residents, demand immediate attention and decisive action from the Jain Group authorities. We urge them to prioritize the health and safety of the residents by undertaking a comprehensive repair and maintenance action for the water duct system. This should involve the complete repair of the faulty ducts, not just temporary fixes like replastering to cover up the dampness. We urge the Jain Group to prioritize the wellbeing of its residents and take swift action to address this critical issue.
