Demand of New Final Exam (Resit) for the Batch of EN6904 Engineering Graphics (AutoCAD/Civil)
To whom it concerns in the administration of Bahrain Polytechnic,
We would like to report what was experienced and faced during the conducted Final Exam on Dec 10,
The Exam was supposed to start at 12:00 PM, the papers where being spread at that time, and the students were ready to start working as per required, but what was needed to be drawn was not clear as the required dimensions were very small, pixelized and unclear to be read. The process of acquiring the needed dimensions by the conductors and giving them to all the students took 30 minutes after the exam started, yet we were only granted 15 minutes extended time, despite that during the first 30 minutes the students were unable to practically begin drawing.
The given floor plan was very detailed, and the dimensions of the walls, doors and corridors were variant and time consuming to analyze (as the floor plan has wrong dimensions in the engineering sense, thus completely wrong), which is not in the level of what the students are capable to draw and analyze precisely and accurately in the span of 2 hours, let along 90 minutes. It was not possible for any student who attempted the exam to fully achieve what was assigned to draw during the exam as it was in an incompetent level to what the students learned as per the syllabus.
We express our dissatisfaction with the level of the exam in comparison to the skill we acquired during the course and believe that it is unfair to be assessed by an exam that has illlogical applications that does not meet with what we are knowledgeable about and even what can be learnt during the course.
We demand a new resit Exam to be conducted and ensure that we can get 100% from it as a maximum mark, and not 60% only for the issues that were out of control during the Exam.
With regards,
The students of Engineering Technology (Civil).
