As members of the Kansas State University community, the K-state YDSA is deeply concerned about our institution's affiliation with Athletes for Israel. This association contradicts the values we hold dear as K-Staters - fostering an inclusive, welcoming atmosphere where everyone feels supported and empowered.

The K-State administration has taken a “neutral” position on the ongoing conflict in Palestine. However, our athletics programs are partnered with Athletes for Israel, where they made care packages for Israeli Defence Forces (IDF). This act is far from neutral and sends a conflicting message to our Palestinian, Arab, and Middle Eastern students and faculty members, who are directly or indirectly affected by these actions.

It is important to note that according to Human Rights Watch and other international organizations, there have been numerous reports of human rights abuses committed by IDF. By providing support through care packages, we are directly contributing towards the genocide of the Palestinian people.

Moreover, this affiliation contradicts Kansas State's own values – "We live by the purple rule: Family comes first." How can we claim this when our school is directly involved in supporting oppressive forces?

We urge the Kansas State University Athletics Department to reconsider its partnership with Athletes for Israel. We must stand true to our principles of inclusivity and respect for all individuals regardless of their nationality or political views. Sign this petition if you believe in upholding these values within our beloved university community.
