Would believe this University ( of all Universities) would request an independent investigation of these allegations. There is a distinction between motivating, challenging coaching and abuse.

I am a former gymnast of the class of 2016 as well and it is so sad to see the lack of immediacy for an investigation of the complaints that have been brought up. Something has to be done…

Not only do these coaches need to be fired and never coach again, the individuals in the Athletic Department that received the various complaints must be fired.

An immediate investigation is certainly warranted.

As a former Penn State gymnast (class of 2016) and a first year student after the Sandusky scandal, I am absolutely appalled at this university and their lack of intelligence in this matter.

I am the parent of one of these girls. My daughter worked her tail off her entire childhood as do all gymnasts who make it to NCAA levels. She deserved so much more than the experience she had as a member of that team. For the sake of her personal well-being, we decided together that it was no longer in her best interest to stay on scholarship as a member of the team. The daily belittling and threatening that went on was more than any adult should ever expect in any arrangement be it work, relationship, and certainly as a student-athlete. Please get this out of the hands of the people who have been sweeping it under the rug and diminishing the degree to which the hostile environment made it impossible for many of the girls to remain active members of the team. Outside, unbiased, professional opinions must be sought. Involve people who understand the psychological and physical demands of the sport and how intimidation and manipulation negatively impact individuals.

It is unacceptable that these gymnasts are coming forward and not being heard. It's not easy for them to bring these things to light. These issues need to be taken seriously and a thorough independent investigation is required. It's only fair for these athletes that have sacrificed so much and dealt with abuse that no one should have to face.
