I agree that there should be grandfathering for those licensed professional counselors that graduated from non-cacrep schools.

Totally unfair to qualified veterans not to be allowed to work with other veterans at the VA.

We need more counsulers not less,when the social worker in our clinic retires later this year we sent getting anyone new.

Our veterans need access to as many qualified mental health providers as possible. We need a grandfathering clause that is inclusive of all Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors, who have been licensed in their state.

The limitations on hiring LPCs by the VA and Tricare keep the very people who are most connected to the military from serving their 'own' (veterans, spouses, etc) because CACREP schools are less available to these populations. I personally graduated from a military-friendly online program (non-CACREP) but have low hope of working directly for the VA because of these limitation.

Grandfathering of qualified licensed professional mental health counselors is necessary to provide quality services to Veterans and for supervision for new masters-level counselors in residence in the VA system. Hire more mental health counselors in the VA and federal system who have served in the US military now!

As a graduate of a non CACREP program offered to military members and their families, while residing at a European duty station, it is hypocritical to deny employment to those who have taken advantage of supported programs. Thousands of competent providers are non-CACREP. Grandfathering needs to happen!
