Dogs are not getting the same time to be networked out! It's ridiculous how some can be there for months and others there for only a week. Euthanizing healthy dogs and mislabeled some dogs as being aggressive. So their not even getting a chance to get out! Videos volunteers take prove otherwise. All dogs should be given the same amount of time to be networked out for a fair chance at life!!

The volunteers and staff within FWACC go above and beyond to fulfil the roles of their jobs and to help the animals survive. Staff have created programs to get dogs out of Texas on transport, volunteers push to recruit more volunteers. What are elected officials doing? They aren't using their city webpage to promote the shelter. They aren't using their Facebook pages to promote the shelter and adoptions. What are elected officials doing? The Animal Advisory Board is not active and hasn't been for some time. It seems that the gap is with city elected officials, possibly making decisions to euthanize a certain number of dogs per day. About 5,000 dogs were euthanized in 2024. City leadership does not utilize all of its resources or leverage community resources to promote adopts, spaying or neutering options. The promotion piece is very missing by City leadership. The question is: Why does city elected officials not do more? Austin Pets Alive has been doing marvelous work to switch the Austin animal shelter into a no kill animal shelter, actively recruits volunteers to staff every position imaginable, and does a marvelous job at saving lives of dogs and cats. Austin Pet's Alive needs to be modeled for the Ft. Worth Animal Care and Control management to see. How much does it cost the city to euthanize each dog? Staff? Supplies? Disposal? Staff salary and benefits? Couldn't some of that money be best used by having staff actually do adoption events at local businesses to promote adoptions and spay/neuter programs? Lots can be done. Austin Pets Alive proves it can be done. City of Ft. Worth needs to stop the euthanasias and use all of its free resources to publicize adoptions, partner with the media for free press spots on tv. Get that Animal Advisory Board moving.

Killing healthy friendly adoptable dogs just for space is despicable & ludicrous. IMO, the problem lies with irresponsible pet owners, backyard breeders, lack of spay and neuter enforcement, puppy mills, heartless management and a city government that just looks the other way while beautiful healthy dogs & cats are slaughtered in a daily basis. The needless killing must stop.

I rescued 2 moms and their pups it took 3 days just to find others to try and he'll. They need more time to network and be placed. Mandatory neuter/spay laws should be in place.

Please stop the senseless killing of adoptable dogs. Do better!

Stop the inhumane killing.

We have to ban breading dogs, cats and offer free spay and neuter or ar least at low cost for all animals, especially if they are leaving a shelter. Also if there are pet stores selling these animals that has to stop.

All policies should be consistent with ALL shelters and info should be released to rescue organizations before the euthanasia date. Give all equal opportunities and rights!
