We have a flawed educational system right now. Success is based on testing of skills that are developmentally inappropriate. Learning is not about assessment. It is about application of learned skills to daily living. Its about preparation to use skills in life and on the job. These tests do not prove anything. Many many students are not good test takers, but are excellent in their professional field or work environment. What happened to hands on, multi-sensory teaching. I am pro-assessment of skills taught by the teacher, assessed in a way the teacher feels is appropriate. The common core goals are NOT developmentally appropriate. Direct teacher instruction for reading should not begin until a child is developmentally read, and that, for some , is not until age 7 1/2 or 8. Give control back to the teachers. The government needs to stay out of education. If not, I recommend we all home school our children.

As a retired teacher I am shocked and saddened by what is happening in our democracy.

We need to start legal action against Pearson for a faulty product that has resulted in emotional stress on students and teachers. Shame on them! They need to reimburse that state for their horrible product.

we must have an independent review of the exam as it has been witnessed by teachers who report inappropriate reading levels of the exams and factual errors in the math exams. You then have children believe there is something wrong with them because the exams are so far above grade level for them. It's seems the exam is designed to fail the child.
