The school dress code discourages girls. I think the dress code is ridiculous!

I agree all the way. It shows much discrimination towards girls at our school. It must be enforced to be equal. I'm in.

I think that all carteret County schools, especially croatan high school and swansboro high school are kicking females out of class and sending them home which affects their ability to get an education. Because they think stupid things such as thighs, shoulders, their backs and etc. Are "distracting." If someone's shoulder is distracting to a student that's their own fault, as well as a back or thighs. Now schools are not letting females get the education they should and need.

It's really difficult to find shorts and dresses that apply to the 1 inch dress code. Wearing long pants in hot and humid weather isn't fun!

I completely agree with this petition. The Swansboro High School dress code is incredibly sexist. We aren't allowed to wear nike athletic shorts when it's 95 degrees out side, but some males walk around with shorts that show their thighs. We are told that showing our shoulders is distracting, but of course it is our fault if a male gets distracted by us being ourselves and wearing the clothes we pay good money for.

Although it's easily to find clothes that are approiate for school I find it hard to believe that we as young adults still have a this strict dress code. I feel as we do live in the "home of the free" we male or female should be entitled to wear whatever we want, not only because it helps express character but because it's sets each of us apart.

I'm tired of men being aloud to wear things that girls are not. This is all about equality people and I don't see any equality in the dress code at all. I'm also sick and tired of other females getting away with wearing clothing that I get dress coded for. And I DO dress for myself and NOT anyone else. It's time for a change.

I can't even wear soccer shorts this is ridiculous. I am not comfortable when I got to school I'm really annoyed and have an attitude with my teacher. This dress code needs to change. Everyone would feel so much comfortabler
