It's not good. This is underrating Nursing profession. We want to go collegiate and they want to drag us back. God forbid bad things.

We totally condemned the proposal to kick start the community Nursing in Nigeria. It is a form of licensed Quackery. We all know the negative effects of Quackery to Nursing image. It will further defame nursing status and image. They should please employ registered public health nurses who are trained and licensed to practice by nmcn. Unfortunately, they are there jobless in the society while some are just managing in private hospitals with meager amount of money. They are being priced low because of private trained quacks used as our substitute. It will be worse for graduate nurses to find placement in the labour market if these set of quacks proposed to be trained by nmcn are allowed to see the light of the day. Every year they are trained PHN without planing their future for them by Nursing and midwifery council of Nigeria. Our future matters to us as young Nurses. Nmcn pls don't jeopardize our future for us. In a nutshell,we need employment not training quacks by a supposed regulatory body. Personally I am angry with our leaders for selling our profession to government cheaply. Do we have sub training schools for sub doctors? We say no to LCN. Thanks

This is a very bad development. It should not be allowed !!! Otherwise, Nursing in Nigeria will further be decimated . We should all rise up to vehemently reject this . What legacy do we want to leave for the future generations of Nurses . There is unemployment of Nurses already . Those that are fortunate to be employed are not well remunerated.. Because the program has succeeded in the North .This is why they want to extend it to the South and other regions of Nigeria . Let the Nursing council rise up to their responsibilities by rejecting this in totality ! If for what ever reason , the Government and our detractors have their way , we shall see that the products of this illegality will be made to replace the registered Nurses ; since they have equally been licenced . The powers that be will bring them to the public and ensure they work in government hospitals. The private hospital owners will also employ them as another alternative and cheap source of labour . Our leaders should not succumb to any form of inducement and/or intimidation . This is to preserve our integrity and uphold our Noble profession. We need to ask the question , why they do not advocate for community doctors , community pharmacists , community Lab scientist etc . Finally , hope we have not forgotten the issue of the so called "auxiliary nurses" . It is not surprising to know that this group have a strong union and they are ready to do anything and go to any length to proof to us that they are relevant .
