The proposal calls for significant upheaval for students and families. Four weeks is not enough time to consider all the changes put forth - and the comments from all the community meetings being held right now. Please do the right thing and #delaythevote. Thank you!

I don't see how this is the answer to the issues parents presented last year. The focus of boundary changes should've been directed towards helping lower performing schools and offering them more options, not disrupting the lives of parents and students at schools that were performing well.

This will be happening across the county. Time to stand up and have voices heard

I support a delay in this vote in order to gather more information.

The Sedgefield Middle proposal will not produce s high performing school and push more families to private or charter. It will also weaken the chance of success for the Sedgefield/Dilworth Elem proposals. More time is needed to find a Sedgefield Middle Solution

This is too important to rush through for arbitrary reasons. You're not giving enough information to make parents feel comfortable with this change in their children's school assignments.

I taught third grade for five years in Virginia, and then had a wonderful twenty-five year career of teaching public school kindergarten in eastern N.C. I was also appointed to serve on the N.C. Teacher Academy representing K-2 grade levels throughout the state. I thoroughly enjoyed that experience. Personally, I think these recently proposed changes, affecting so many students, need far more discussion, investigation, and evaluation. It concerns me that the decision-makers are just too anxious to make drastic changes that could be detrimental for both students and classroom teachers.

Can you post a link as to where the new redestricting zones are proposed? Thanks

Please delay the vote until the parents can understand all their options.

It's been more than a week since this proposal was announced. In that time, I have attended three different CMS community meetings where parents repeatedly asked the board what the plan is for turning around two failing schools (other than adding our students' higher test scores to the population). The answer we are continuing to get ("Details about transitions at the school level are up to the school leaders who have the local knowledge of the community and its needs.") is far from the reassurance I need to support this proposal. I want to see what is going to change to ensure my children aren't being districted into schools that will continue to fail.

The Beverly Woods part of the proposal moving 86 kids from Selwyn/AG/Myers Park to BWoods/Carmel/Southmeck is up rooting families for little to no benefit. I believe we are cutting off our nose to spite our face. The benefits don't justify the pain it will cause.

Elected CMS representatives should allow the families within their respective districts the option to not only digest the "called for changes within this school system. But also allow for enough time to actually see if these proposed changes could be refined or challenged to make way for potentially better ideas or pairings that would ensure ALL kids are benefitted.

It is incredibly irritating to see the "wedge" be on the chopping block once again. Unfair

I realize you want to get this done while so many members of the board are not going run for reelection and Ann Clark leaves. Where is the accountability? Shame on you. Delay the vote.

There is no good outcome of a rushed vote. If the plan is good now, it will be good in November. But pushing this vote with out the data makes no sense.
