Say no to the snow, delay the MTS prom!
Move Prom Out of April
No one wants to be cold on their prom night, let alone take
pictures in the snow. For the first time in years, Mother Teresa Catholic
Secondary School has decided to move back the prom date to April 26th, 2013
rather than the usual June date. When students confronted vice principals and
teachers the answer they got was ''so students could focus on their studies''.
The MTS student community understands how important education is, but high
school memories are also needed. When students look back on their high school
lives they want to know how well they did in classes but also how much fun they
had socialising with friends at the numerous gatherings throughout the years.
Considering many of the social events have been suspended, prom is the one
amazing night the grade twelve students get to look forward to during their
last year of high school. Grade twelve is one of the most important years in a
high school student’s life. The idea of graduating with friends and celebrating
the accomplishments they have made throughout the years is every high school
students dream. Every year students prior to the 2013 graduates got to
experience an amazing prom night filled with warmth and joy thanks to the late prom
date, this graduating class deserves the same experience without being forced
into this trial run. MTS students understand how big of an impact this year
will have on the rest of their lives considering their education and their
social lives. For some students, this is one of the most important nights and
events of their high school lives. It is a night to spend time with friends
they may never see out of school again, a time to get together and rejoice the
years they have spent together, a time to take pictures in the outdoor sunny
weather and a time to make memories they will never forget. Please sign this
petition and help the Mother Teresa students get their prom back! Say no to the
snow and get prom out of April.
