Improve Dark Souls for PC
Earlier this year, the gaming community was overjoyed with the news that Dark Souls would be making its way to the PC platform. As the game approaches release and media impressions flow in, many have been dismayed at reports that the game will not support graphical options that have become standard in PC games in the past decade. This situation is especially unfortunate, as the game marks the series' first entry on PC, and low sales could crush the possibility of future entries arriving on the platform before it even has time to blossom. We propose a solution: create a software patch to be released very close or ideally simultaneous to the game itself that resolves these issues.
The issues we wish to be addressed are:
A. The internal rendering resolution of the game being locked to 1024x720
B. The game's framerate being capped at 30 frames per second
We understand that the former is likely easier to address; it is also considered the more egregious by the community. If the latter is impractical to solve, it is our opinion that all effort should be made to ameliorate the former. Finally, if it is indeed impossible to address either problem, we strongly desire a description of the technical processes that cause that to be the case, as this would reassure the community, and continue the dialogue between the community and the producers of the game that caused so much excitement originally.
