Delaware Beach Access Coalition Petition
The enjoyment, safety and property values for 14 communities located within land designated as State Parks has been adversely impacted by a marked increase in fishing vehicle access and traffic on the beaches.
We are seeking to have a pedestrian only beach access designation for approximately 1,000 yards of oceanfront out of the 14 miles of the Delaware seashore.
From 2011 to 2016 truck access has increased from 11,000 to 16,000 and with continued inland communities being developed, this will increase further. As a result, the oceanfront access for these 14 communities, is being overrun by trucks increasing safety risk, reducing beach access for homeowners and negatively impacting owner and renter enjoyment.
The long term impact will be an eventual decline in renters and property values as well as negatively impacting restaurants, grocery stores, homeowner service providers, etc. These communities represent nearly 400 homes, 3,000 owners and approximately 16,000 renters and the financial impact to the area in the summer is meaningful.
Signing this petition signifies the homeowners request to restore our ability to enjoy the immediately accessible beaches in front of our homes without worry of trucks crossing children's paths, -- restore our access and ability to enjoy the beach space from trucks and their tents taking over a significant portion of the land -- restore and preserve our financial investments in our homes.
