Dear Sirs/Madams,
Higher National Engineering Diplomates’ Association (HINEDA), writing this letter to you is the authorized body representing the interests of HNDE diplomates serving the country in the Engineering field with distinction.
We are aware of the current Government’s intention of providing the opportunity to gain University education for all those who pass the GCE Advanced Level Examination which is appreciated by HINEDA too. In this context, the Higher National Diploma in Engineering (HNDE), currently under the administration of SLIATE is also undergoing this phase changing process like all other 16 Diplomas conducted by SLIATE to be elevated to a Degree.
However, we are of the view that HNDE, being an applied Science course in Engineering, shall be treated as a separate entity from the rest of the courses conducted by SLIATE, in the event of being elevated as a Degree.
Therefore, considering the current trends in the industry and future trends in the Engineering field globally, we have prepared a report for the benefit of Higher Education authorities as to how HNDE shall be elevated to a degree status which is attached for your careful study.
As such, we do urge you to kindly consider our proposal attached herewith before finalizing the decision on the HNDE course. Please be good enough to discuss, if any disagreement with our proposal as per your preview. We are very much keen on meeting with you to further elucidate our stance on HNDE and its new direction as well as the contents of the report.
